When Inspiration Strikes

This past weekend we were at a beautiful wedding in Bristol, RI celebrating two amazing friends. This was our second and last wedding of 2018, which is bittersweet for many reasons. We can now hunker down to enjoy a cozy fall in New England and celebrate the upcoming holiday season, but I’ll miss the inspiration I get from being immersed in wedding season. I love seeing how other wedding designers interpret a couples love and personalities through design. It gives me immense joy to see a beautifully laid tablescape or a unique seating chart idea. With all the unique wedding vibes from this weekend, I’m inspired to come up with some new projects of my own. I have a few things in mind from my jaunt around the Brimfield Antique Show that I’ll be sharing later on. Here are a few items that inspired me from our trip two weeks ago.

For the plant loving couple, these herb markers are seriously the dreamy. I just love the way the oxidized iron on these beauties adds a perfect mix of colors fit for any season. Each table can be an herb, and you can use these markers in planted pots to tell your guests where to sit. You’ve got Tarragon, Sage, Parsley, chives, basil, cilantro, dill, etc. The list is endless! I envision a large reclaimed wood table with a line of varied potted herbs and simple name cards in front. There’s also something about the smell of herbs that’s super inviting. What better way to welcome your guests.

How incredible are these woven wood and tan leather high tops!? I still can’t get over how perfect they’d be for the island bohemian bride. I unfortunately did not snag these babies, but I can’t stop thinking about them. Perfect for a summer or fall wedding adorned with greenery and a hanging pampas grass installation above. Add an antique rug and we’re in sweetheart heaven.

Bingo anyone? That’s what I first thought these were when I came across them at the cutest vendor. My mind immediately went to seating chart display! It seemed that most people were buying these bad boys (typing the word balls feels weird) to make name signs for children’s bedrooms, but I thought they’d be a perfect and unique way to show your guests where to sit. I picked up the whole alphabet for $70. Originally $3 a ball ($78), she offered them for a slight discount after we got to talking about wedding design ideas. I can’t wait to work on this one!

I know this is not wedding related, but you know how it goes, first comes love, then marriage, then baby in the carriage… And not even I could deny the cuteness of this piece. This was quite possibly the cutest thing I came across during the antique show. For those who know me, I’m not a baby obsessed person. I’m not quite sure I want children of my own, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think or get excited about decorating a nursery. In my opinion, decorating a nursery allows you to go back to your childhood. You can approach the room with an innocent view focussed on whimsical, clean details that open a child’s mind, imagination, and eyes as they develop. It’s a pretty serious task when you think of it. Also one heck of a cute DIY idea. If you, your parents, or grandparents held onto their old baby clothes, what better way to carry on that legacy by framing a cute pairing in a basic wooden frame and backdrop. Simply the sweetest thing I’ve seen in awhile. Also, if I did have a child, I would buy them this exact outfit, and probably an adult version for myself. Don’t judge.
